Job description
SEN Learning Support Assistant - Aspiring Child Development Psychologist Colchester – Education and Training - Aspiring Child Development Psychologist Colchester
Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Colchester
Salary Scale: £85-£90 per day
Start Date: 04/09/23
Contract type: Long Term Contract
Are you passionate about demonstrating the value of education to children? Can you create a safe environment for them to express themselves, including their thoughts on gender and sexual identity? Knowing your sincere reasons for working in the SEN and Mental Health sectors is crucial as it forms the foundation of everything you do.
GSL is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide support for children with special educational needs, social, emotional, and mental health challenges, as well as trauma and associated challenging behaviors. Some children may have experienced adverse childhood experiences, and your role will involve identifying their risks and needs and escalating when necessary. Join our friendly, energetic, and creative team as we explore the areas of Autism, Mental Health, and Trauma, ensuring we focus on the right ones for you.
Based in Colchester, our provision caters to a range of SEN and Mental Health needs, from high-functioning autism to low cognitive ability. Some children will trust you enough to share personal information that falls under safeguarding guidelines. These roles are challenging, but listening to your students and building trust before focusing on their academics is essential.
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with therapists and expand your knowledge and skill set. This experience is invaluable for aspiring Speech and Language Therapists, Education Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, and Child Development and Speech and Language Therapists.
Many children and young people with special educational needs face marginalization, disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment, and stigmatization. Your role will be instrumental in providing consistency, equipping them with tools for safety, security, empowerment, and belief in their ability to succeed.
