The Intelligence Officer’s role is to use intelligence collection methodologies and tactics to collect crucial intelligence against those that pirate content from Sky and to advise strategic analysis and subsequent targeting of key pirate operations, with the overall aim of protecting the content, image, brand, and reputation of Sky.
The role will be responsible for efficiently and optimally producing intelligence reports and helping support investigations using a variety of intelligence relationships and tactics!
What you'll do:
  • Work to support the department with enhanced intelligence collection activity, allowing a broader intelligence picture of the pirate ecosystem.
  • Use the full range of intelligence collection tactics to improve understanding of the pirate landscape.
  • Keep current on technical methodologies used by the pirates.
  • Liaise closely with other members of the I&I team, and also internal teams within the AP directorate at Sky, to deliver against the department’s strategic objectives.
  • Contribute towards the training and development of self and team by undertaking training aimed at improving and maintaining relevant knowledge., including knowledge of legal requirements and industry trends.
  • Continuously seek to improve the efficiency and output of the strategic intelligence team and I&I function in collaboration with other team members, I&I managers, and Head of Department.
  • Represent the business and present evidence to courts as required.
  • Interpret data, analyse results & provide meaningful recommendations and reports.
  • Be inquisitive and challenge decision making, if vital, to ensure that the highest standards are being reached.
  • Run or be a part of key projects in the department which contribute towards better intelligence operations within anti-piracy.
What you'll bring:
  • Proven working experience in the intelligence community, with a good understanding of the full suite of covert intelligence operations.
  • An understanding of the technical solutions to source pirated content, with knowledge on 1 or more of the following is desirable:
Digital content and delivery methods
Broadcast technology including DTH, IPTV, DTT, Cable and OTT distribution
Devices capable of receiving broadcast or streamed content
Encryption systems - Conditional Access and Digital Rights Management systems
Video streaming technologies
  • A solid understanding of RIPA and its application.
  • A discreet, composed and levelheaded temperament.
  • Track record of personal integrity and professionalism.
  • Confident, bold, and professional in dealing with the business, industry and partners whilst working with critical information.
  • A positive approach, can do attitude, ability to work as part of a group team and desire to continuously develop and improve.
  • Willingness to travel in the UK/RoI to support law enforcement operations / activities.
  • Excellent listening, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible in working practices.
  • Understanding of knowledge of Sky’s products and services and an awareness of current and possible future business trends and their potential impact on the company.
  • Good knowledge of standard office IT packages.
