Who Are We?
Doggy Day Care Cornwall was first established in 2014 and has quickly become one the No.1 day care facility in Cornwall. We’ve created a custom built specialist day care facility over a 13 acre former golf course, and in doing so, are growing our community of friends dedicated to creating happy, healthy, social hounds.
Due to the amazing response we’ve had from guests and their owners, we now offer a range of services to suit all pet sitting needs, including; day care, dog boarding, a secure dog park available to hire, a collection and drop off service and our ever popular Natural Cornish Pet Shop.
The Role:
Being Man’s Best Friend to us requires more than a fair weather companion, you will need:
- Empathy - As sensitive, intelligent creatures, our day care dogs come from a variety of backgrounds and have a range of needs, so we treat them all as individuals. It’s necessary to quickly learn their personal quirks, and get to know who they play with and how they enjoy interacting with other guests. Along with building trusting relationships with their own family members, communicating effectively with Dog Parents.
- A love for the great outdoors - It rains and we cannot control the weather, sometimes you’ve just got to get stuck in, as our four-legged associates are here to play! Autumn is wet, Winter is cold, Spring brings hay fever, so you will need an outdoorsy personality, with a love of all seasons. Not just summer. As they say, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing! This role also includes daily maintenance of the site, including weeding, DIY and general grounds keeping.
- Eye for detail - Straddling the line of playground dinner lady and an all-seeing lifeguard, it‘ll be your duty after training to constantly assess the playgroup, ensuring harmony is maintained, play styles are matched, and safety is your number one priority. We run structured playgroups, where knowing your guests will be paramount to them having the best day possible, ensuring all dogs get the most out of their time spent here with us.
- Knowledge of dogs - A high proportion of the dogs that we look after have at some point in their life been rescued. They can be shy and can find getting to know new people a challenge. The right candidate for this position must have an innate ability to build relationships with all of the dogs we look after, putting the dog's safety and comfort first.
- The individual will be expected to work in our onsite shop as and when needed, so this will mean learning and retaining knowledge of nutritional advice and the ability to effectively communicate to customers.
- This role is for someone looking for a long term position working with dogs. Our established day care team members have all been with us for over two years, they have established strong bonds with all of our day care members, and are professionals when it comes to creating a consistent, safe environment to welcome our guests into. Should you be looking for a shorter career change, this isn’t the job for you.
