Job description

Are you passionate about animals and interested in starting a career in veterinary care? Northlands Veterinary Group George St, Corby are seeking a dedicated Animal Care Assistant (for maternity cover August REPLACEMENT_STRING June 2024) to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a professional veterinary environment and gain valuable experience in animal care.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the clinical team, including animal handling, feeding, grooming, and cleaning
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic environment in the facility by ensuring proper sterilisation of equipment and cleaning of clinical areas.
  • Monitor the health and behaviour of animals and report any abnormalities to the veterinary team
  • Provide support during consultations , treatments, and surgeries by preparing equipment and holding animals as required
  • Using the laboratory equipment to run inhouse tests.
  • Assist with reception duties, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, taking payments and providing basic information to clients
  • Participate in the maintenance of medical records and ensure accuracy and completeness of information

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with animals (preferred but not essential, as training will be provided)
  • A genuine passion for animal welfare and a desire to provide high-quality care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Physical fitness and the ability to handle and restrain different types of animals
  • This position requires you work every other Saturday morning
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping purposes

Salary: £23,017.00 per year

Experience:
