About the role


We are seeking a highly motivated and technical minded analyst intern to join our analytics department. This paid internship opportunity will allow you to gain hands-on experience in analysing customer data, contributing to strategic discussions, cost reduction initiatives and process improvements. You will take end to end ownership of a specific project that focusses on supporting one of three key areas in the Analytics department. Your new colleagues in Analytics will provide support to help you successfully complete this project. The 3 teams in the Analytics department in which there are opportunities available are:


Intern 1: Fraud Strategy


The Fraud Strategy team develops and implements measures to prevent, detect, and mitigate fraudulent activity in order to safeguard customers and the business from financial losses and unauthorised use of credit card information. As the first line of defence, we ensure that the right systems, processes, and MI are in place and maintained to highest standards.

  • Identify patterns and anomalies in transactional data to recognize instances of fraud
  • Optimizing and monitoring performance of fraud detection and prevention systems to manage fraud risk within appetite and budget
  • Support product development activities to integrate fraud prevention measures into new credit cards products, ensuring security and trust for customers right from design stage
  • Conducting thorough risk assessments and analysis of emerging trends to proactively identify and address potential vulnerabilities and fraud risks

Intern 2: New Business Origination:


The New Business Origination team play a crucial role within the customer acquisition and risk assessment process within JAJA. Our primary responsibility is to evaluate and assess the creditworthiness of potential customers seeking a Credit Card.

  • Analyse how data drives decisions based on whether a customer is accepted for a credit card
  • Understand the customer journey from a data and systems perspective and seek opportunities to optimise
  • Assist in developing reports and visualizations to bring value to the business.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, conduct analysis, and generate insights

Intern 3: Existing Customer Management:


The ECM team provide ongoing support to our portfolio of customers with various lending needs and digital capabilities.
Our responsibilities include:

  • Design, Select, Monitor, and Analyse communications campaigns to deliver on business objectives, meet regulatory obligations, and improve the customer experience.
  • Understand the interconnectedness of all the moving parts of the customer data.
  • Develop reports and dashboards to deliver actionable insights to drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Design and Implement projects to directly drive business growth and have immediate impact.

About You


  • Recently completed or currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Business
  • Interested in data analysis, data visualization, and experience with manipulating and analysing data. Previous use of the following software would be great (Excel, Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Google Sheets etc.)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbally
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and apply new skills.
  • Understanding of programming languages is a plus (SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, Java, C# etc.)
