Job description

The ACC Liverpool Group operates the city’s iconic waterfront event campus – the interconnected M&S Bank Arena, ACC Liverpool and Exhibition Centre Liverpool – as well as ticketing agency Ticket Quarter and the Pullman Liverpool Hotel.

As a world-class provider of venue and event services we play a leading role in shining a spotlight on Liverpool. We have successfully staged a wide array of award winning national and international events and in 2023 will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest and the Labour Party Conference.

We are seeking a Head of Event Management to lead and manage our busy events team.

This senior management position, reporting to the Director of Events & Operations, will lead the in-house events team to support, guide and positively influence the planning and delivery of all conference, exhibition, entertainment, and sporting events. To hit the ground running you will need strong event management experience developed in a fast-paced commercial environment. Delivering high event management performance standards for our customers and clients is a key focus and this role will be the leader of an established team of talented event managers tasked to successfully drive continuous improvement and excellence across all event delivery processes.

The events team includes the front of house function which provides the essential interface between event delivery, public safety and security across the majority of our live events. As the Head of Event Management, you will work closely with this small team to ensure their service delivery and performance are aligned to the company’s security and customer service strategies ensuring the expert planning and management of full capacity, multi venue campus events.

Overseeing the operational performance of the outsourced catering and hospitality service is another key responsibility of this role, requiring close collaborative working with the contract Catering Director. Whist knowledge of managing catering is not specifically required, demonstrable experience of managing a high value commercial contract driving strong service standards is essential.

This is a key role in our leadership team. Therefore, you should have senior management experience of leading the event management delivery in an events venue or large scale commercial environment. You will be able to demonstrate positive and influential leadership, have experience of setting, managing and exceeding budgets and have a proven track record in achieving strong revenue contribution when delivering events. An influential communicator, you must be able to build positive working relationships with clients, colleagues and team members and implement new ways of working to drive competitive advantage for the business.

This role offers significant career opportunities for an event professional seeking their next new challenge. If you want to work for a company that thrives on delivering excellence as standard, to take on a role that is more than a just a job but a commitment to being to be part of an award winning team then this is the role for you. We want the person who joins us to be ambitious, to want to make their mark in the events sector and to bring their passion and focus to contribute towards The ACC Liverpool Group’s continued success.

Closing Date: Tuesday 25 April 2023.
Interview Date: Tuesday 2 May 2023.
