Task Description: Aircraft Mechanic II (23022):
Aircraft Mechanics II must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, and structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Additionally provides input to Maintenance Engineering Changes (MEC), Estimated Cost of Damage preparation (ECOD) and assist in the recommendation of changes to (MWO). Individuals must be able to prioritize workloads and are required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks. Mechanic IIs can inspect Mechanic IIs and Is. This mechanic maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components, applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures’ manuals. Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts, requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair, must have basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects. May require specialization in sheet-metal, electric work, avionics or other aircraft systems related disciplines.
Additional Qualifications/Experience Requirements Aircraft Mechanic II (Sheet Metal):
Sheet Metal Experience: Minimum of six years total and two years recent (within 4 years of task order PoP start) in USAF aircraft maintenance support with two years on F-15 aircraft as a sheet metal mechanic. The Contractor shall have the skill to remove and replace F-15 aircraft parts and accessories/components and the skill to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Experience in performing or supervising functions such as fabricating, repairing, assembling, or installing aircraft metals, plastics, fiberglass, composites, or honeycomb parts; and corrosion identification, removal, and applying coatings and markings is required.
Sheet Metal Knowledge: Knowledge is mandatory of aircraft construction features; identification and characteristics of aerospace materials; repair of metal, tubing, cable, plastic, fiberglass, bonded honeycomb, and composite structural components; shop drawing and sheet metal layout techniques; shop mathematics; corrosion identification, removal, repair, and prevention; cleaning of metals; application of protective coatings, low observable materials, and markings; proper use, mixing, and storage of acids, solvents, alcohol, caustics, primers, and paints; and proper handling and disposal of hazardous waste and materials. Sheet metal mechanics shall have knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical principles of F-15 aircraft systems and knowledge of ground support equipment required to perform modification of the F-15 aircraft.
Other: Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards is mandatory for this specialty.
Skill and Knowledge: Shall have the ability to troubleshoot malfunctions in various aircraft systems and be able to perform Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot Maintenance and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) modifications and possess one or more of the specialties of the assigned aircraft below:
Sheet Metal and Aircraft Logs and Records Administration
- Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, Air Force Maintenance Programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
- Aircraft Mechanic II shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy, and exhibit leadership and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
- Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
- Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft maintenance records.
- Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems
Responsibility: Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
Task Requirements:
- Performs Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot Maintenance and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) modifications.
- Compliance with applicable aircraft technical data (Work Cards, Job Guides, Technical Orders, etc…) and/or other pertinent instructions such as but not limited to Engineering Technical Assistance Requests (ETARs) and local MXG instructions as provided by the site COR.
- Correct utilization of all applicable technical documentation in the performance of all tasks and document discrepancies identified, parts ordered and maintenance tasks completed in Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS).
- Performs all other required duties as applicable and assigned by supervision.
- Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, and corrosion control.
- Troubleshoot, remove/install, and transport to/from aircraft as required, classified Line Replaceable Units (LRUs)/components IAW established procedures
- Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
- Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

- General aircraft maintenance
- Use chemical sealants.
- Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment
- Perform shift work and/or overtime as required
- Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Preferred Personnel Qualifications:
- Qualified Crew Chief F-15 Engine Run Qualified
- 10 years or more of Organizational, Intermediate, and/or Depot level maintenance
- 3 or more years previously certified Aircraft Safe for Flight
- Experienced in Aircraft, Engine, ALSS, Egress, Armament, and Support Equipment Logbooks and Records entries.
- Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish
Basic Personnel Qualifications:

- Must be familiar with and qualified to connect and operate Aircraft Ground Equipment and Support Equipment
- Basic Corrosion Control Course
- Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift required
- Must be able to work flexible work week if required
- Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft.
- Must be able to use hand and power tools.
- Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
- Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties as assigned.
- Must complete screening through Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) resulting in eligibility for a SECRET clearance which shall be required of employees
- Must be eligible for Common Access Card (CAC)
Compensation
$32.86/hour
Other Compensation
Employees will receive a health and welfare fringe benefit of $2.65 for every hour worked.
