Job description
Due to increased global growth, we are seeking an Air Freight Coordinator to be part of our Air Freight team within our London Heathrow Office based in Slough at ALPI UK Ltd.
The purpose of the role is to coordinate all import and export consignments received into the UK by Air. The successful candidate will play a part in ensuring all customs declaration tasks are completed correctly and support other departments of the company allowing fluid onward forwarding of the consignments.
Salary Range : £26k - £29 (Depending on experience)
Location: Slough, this role is office based.
Office Hours: Monday – Friday 08.30 hours – 17.30 hours – one-hour unpaid lunch
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure all air import/export jobs are completed correctly and in a timely manner
- Ensure the operational system is always used and correctly
- Assist other department as and when required by the company
- Provide support and holiday coverage for the local staff when required
- Maintain regular communications with the network and sales team
- Look and propose new efficiencies in customer workflow
- Ensure all reports are completed as per provided deadline
- Ensure the SOP’s are followed completely
- Look and propose new efficiencies in customer workflow
- Ensure that all goods under Alpi’s deferment account are approved for delivery (with accounts or line manager or an agreement must be placed on SOP / quotes)
- Passing invoices from suppliers and providers within 48 hours from receipt
- Propose and report to Line Manager; strategies related to the Air products
Skills, Experience and Competencies
- Proven experience, gained ideally within the Freight Forwarding sector
- Able to complete import customs entries
- Knowledge and experience of Import/Export multimodal business
- Knowledge/skills required for Air Freight sales and products
- Demonstrate quality communication skills along with good presentation skills
- Proficient with Microsoft packages especially Ms Excel and general PC knowledge
- Good understanding of logistics processes and procedures
- Must be able to prioritise and organise own workload with attention to detail
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be flexible with their working hours.
- CDS is preferred, however, not essential.
