Digital & IT is a newly emerging function within Technology that will be critical to this transformation on a global level. Within this function, a domain called Lean Portfolio Management & Transformation (LPM&T) has been established with the following mission:
- We are the trusted Enablers of the Business, ensuring that the delivery roadmap of demand will be aligned with the Tech 2025 Strategy and our new Product Operating Model via managing demand, capacity and performance.
- We are the drivers for increasing our delivery efficiency by providing data-based business insights and focusing on the re-usability and standardisation across all markets, also by involving our IT partners.
- We are role modelling the agile ways of working and implementing the SAFe methodology within Digital & IT by setting up an overarching LACE Structure.
Role purpose
The Agile Coach will work within the Lean Agile Centre of Excellence within the Digital & IT Lean Portfolio Management & Transformation team and will train and coach delivery teams and Agile Release Trains (ARTs) in agile ways of working; the role will also provide training and coaching to other functions supporting Digital & IT as needed, e.g. Finance and HR. In this role, you will help teams embrace SAFe Core Values, adopt and apply SAFe principles and implement SAFe practices. You act as facilitator and continuously engage in challenging the old norms of development to improve performance in the areas of quality, predictability, flow and velocity at delivery team and ART level.
Job Responsibility
- Support the agile transformation and guidance of delivery teams and ARTs through the agile journey by
o Contributing to a comprehensive SAFe curriculum in collaboration with Grow with Vodafone/Vodafone University and other LACE functions
o Contributing to standards and creating playbooks for agile ceremonies, e.g. PI-Planning, daily stand-ups, Portfolio Syncs, etc.
- Provide training and coaching on agile ways of working and adoption of SAFe to delivery teams and ARTs
o Facilitate knowledge sharing of best practices and capture it in a useable, easily accessible format for all
- Facilitate the usage of agile adoption measurements to evaluate and report the performance and adherence of the organisation on a regular basis
o Data-driven assessment of delivery performance
- Coach and guide delivery teams and ARTs on an on-going basis
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Demonstrable experience of coaching and leading teams in adopting and implementing Agile methodologies
- Sufficient SAFe knowledge and experience to complete the Safe Practice Consultant (SPC) Certificate if required
- Practical experience in at least one IT domain (development, testing, DevOps, Agile team leadership)
- Ability to inspire, coach and motivate remote multi-national teams
- Ability to continue to monitor, learn and implement best practices via Agile communities of practice
• Knowledge of current & evolving Agile methodologies and tools •
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- A STEM/Commercial degree or equivalent
- Intermediate or Advanced SAFe Certificate; SAFe Programme Consultant (SPC) Certificate desirable but not essential
- Knowledge and experience of working in an agile role, e.g. Scrum Master, Product Owner, Agile PM, Release Train Engineer, Agile Coach
- Experience in complex organizations with distributed responsibilities or with an international environment

- Responsible for making requests for training funding allocation across multiple product and transformation portfolios

- Contribution to improvements in SAFe ART Performance metrics
- Demonstrable improvements in SAFe flow metrics
Dotted reports:
Work through and with other coaches and stakeholders across multiple product and transformation portfolios
