Job Title: Advantage Mentoring Coordinator

The Trust is forecasting further significant expansion over the next two years following its appointment as a key partner in the redevelopment of Gunnersbury Park [as a sports hub], and its move to new, larger, purpose-built premises directly adjacent to the new Brentford FC 17,500 capacity stadium near Kew Bridge in 2021.

Main Purpose of Job
We are looking for a personable and committed individual responsible for providing a 1:1 youth work mentoring service supporting a caseload of young people every 6 months (on average), twice a year as part of the Advantage Mentoring Programme. They will work closely with partner agencies and their local NHS Trust to recruit young people on to programme, identify suitable progression routes and development opportunities that focus on the following to support young people including but not limited to; health and wellbeing, life skills and education and employability. The successful candidate will also support delivery and development of our Communities Engagement department which includes estates based programmes, holiday camps and targeted mentoring.
It is assumed that the majority of mentoring and some session delivery will take place in the afternoons/evenings due to young people’s commitments although some might also take place during school/working hours.
Responsibilities
· Recruit participants on to programme to be assessed by CAMHS clinician before starting programme
· Ensure that all young people are contacted within two working days of the CAMHS handover meeting
· Meet with the young person and co-design a personal plan based around Goal Based Outcomes
· Develop positive relationships with young people through a variety of youth work styles/methodologies
· Support young people to access internal and external programmes in line with their needs and interests
· Deliver mental wellbeing support for young people and manage a caseload, providing support at suitable times for the referral either face to face or virtually
· Delivery of a minimum 2 evenings weekly
· Develop and promote support for parents/guardians/carers so that they feel more confident in supporting their child/young person with their mental health and wellbeing
· Establish, maintain and develop effective partnership working with stakeholders including relevant external agencies and organisations
· Complete monitoring, evaluation and session recordings using internal systems (Salesforce; Views), including contributing to the project monthly reports via Upshot as directed by the Advantage National Project Manager
· Facilitate and encourage young people to continue on to further programmes (internal/external) and positive pathways.
· Maintain accurate records as appropriate for each project including Risk Assessments, Registers, Session Logs & case studies; tracking progression
· Ensure that all delivery, for which you are responsible, complies with all Brentford FC CST health and safety and safeguarding requirements
· Attend all scheduled supervision, meetings and training events
· Support with any other projects in line with department funding requirements as directed by Education Manager and Communities Engagement Manager.

The Selection Criteria
Essential:
· A minimum level 2 in Youth Work, Mentoring or equivalent
· Safeguarding qualification
· Current DBS certificate
· Experience in 1:1 work/mentoring
· Emergency First Aid Certificate
· Mental Health Awareness training (can be provided)
· Experience of working with vulnerable, ‘hard to reach’ young people in a supportive role
· An understanding of the current issues and barriers impacting young people
· Ability to relate well with young people 12-24years, from different backgrounds forming strong, positive relationships
· Experience of partnership/inter-agency working as part of a team around complex young people
· Commitment to diversity, equal opportunities and inclusivity
Desirable:
· NGB Level 1/2 coaching qualification or equivalent
· Mental Health First Aid Certificate
· Experience of working in a school setting
· Experience of working in a pastoral role in a school
· Experience working with Youth Justice Services

The Appointment
Annual salary will be £25,000 to £27,500 per annum
