An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Critical Care dietetic team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as an advanced dietetic assistant (band 4) with a focus on chronic respiratory failure and neuromuscular disorders. This post will support the Band 7 Chronic Respiratory Failure dietitian and form part of the critical care dietetic team consisting of 6 dietitians (1 consultant dietitian, 1 8a, 3 x band 7, 2 x band 6).

This post is based at St Thomas’s Hospital and at Lane Fox Remeo Satellite unit in Redhill, Surrey a minimum of once a week (travel costs are covered).
Main duties include:
- Reviewing oral nutrition support (ONS) patients
- Assessing and providing advice to patients requiring weight management support.
- Providing practical dietary support e.g. snack rounds, supporting meal times.
- Undertaking a telephone clinic to review ONS patients who have been discharged from hospital.
- Administrative support for the gastrostomy multi-disciplinary meeting & pre-admission gastrostomy planning and administration.
- Gastrostomy discharge planning.
- Arranging discharge equipment, ancillaries and paperwork (feed regimen etc.) and delivering PEG care guidance to patients and families.
- Undertaking regular anthropometric measurements.
- Contributing to innovative service development e.g. supporting the development of an obesity pathway, developing group education sessions.
- Supporting and continuing to develop the catering provision for patients at both STH and Remeo (ongoing menu development) including close liaison with the Remeo catering team.
- Support the development of new dietetic resources e.g. diet sheets, information leaflets.
- Stock management including feed and supplements, feeding pumps and plastics across critical care and Remeo.
- Maintaining patient databases
- Administration tasks e.g. screening team emails, ordering diet sheets, screening dietetic referrals, PEG protocol administration etc.
The department of Nutrition and Dietetics is made up of an Adult and Paediatric Nutrition workforce of over 100 staff, generating an income of over 10m. This is a highly complex service, delivering highly specialised Dietetics as part of clinical services across the Trust, and into the Community, including providing professional guidance for our catering services and ensuring our compliance with Nutrition Standards for the Trust.
