The University of Edinburgh Business School are looking for an Admissions Support Officer within our Admissions, Marketing and Alumni team on a permanent Full-time basis. For this post we are looking for a high-quality candidate to play a key role in the Admissions Team, with responsibility for evaluating and making decisions on applications for MSc programmes. This post will also be acting as one of our first points of contact, assisting enquirers by telephone and email.
The Opportunity:
Each September we welcome more than 650 international postgraduate taught students to the Business School. The Admissions Support Officer has a vital role to play in processing their applications and providing good customer service in this first stage of their student journey.
The successful applicant will be efficient and customer-focused, with proven ability to plan and prioritise their own work to ensure that deadlines are met, while maintaining the ability to respond to ad hoc demands. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are required as well as the ability to establish good relationships with applicants from many countries but also colleagues within the Admissions Team; the Admissions, Marketing and Alumni Team and the wider university community.

The Admissions Team currently work a hybrid format, with 2 days in the office (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and 3 days remotely.

Your skills and attributes for success:
- Good standard of education (HNC/HND equivalent), including English, Maths; excellent writing skills, and understanding of presentation / use of statistical data plus relevant administrative experience; or relevant experience in roles demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and competencies.
- Experience of making informed selection decisions.
- Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email, experience of databases
- Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability
- Fast learning skills as well as the ability to use acquired knowledge to make appropriate decisions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to network and maintain contacts
- Good social skills / enthusiasm for meeting new people. A strong customer focus
