The Centre for Lifelong Learning is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Admissions Assistant to provide high quality administrative support, processing and maintaining applications for a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and short courses within the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
This is a varied role where you will utilise your experience of delivering excellent customer service. You will be first point of contact and advice for a range of stakeholders which may include applicants, Apprentice employers, Academic team and course directors, and internal departments throughout the application cycle. Full training can be provided to support these requirements.
You will have a high level of IT literacy, processing admissions applications to a high standard, and be highly organised, coordinating our assessment/interview days.
Although previous experience in Admissions/Higher Education environment working with adult learners would be advantageous, full admissions training will be provided, and you will work with a friendly and supportive admissions team.
This is a student-facing role, with scope for some hybrid working, depending on business needs.

Job Description
As part of a small team, provide an effective enquiries and admission service to applicants and students across the full range of programmes offered by the Centre for Lifelong Learning.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process applications and registrations for courses such as short courses (accredited and non-accredited), undergraduate degrees and taught postgraduate courses.
- To arrange applicant interviews, where required, and liaise with all stakeholders regarding the arrangements.
- Liaise with Course Selectors and other internal University Departments involved in the application process.
- Produce accurate records of recruitment figures for colleagues in CLL, other departments and partner institutions.
- Liaise with colleagues about any queries relating to the applicants or decisions made by course selectors. Highlight issues such as student eligibility for the course, fee status, criminal convictions, DBS checks etc.
- Act as first point of contact to enquirers and applicants, advising them about courses, the admissions process, and induction and enrolment. This advice can be given by telephone, email or in person at CLL recruitment events.
- Attend some course related CLL recruitment events, assisting academics and answering student/applicant queries; some duties may require working outside of normal office hours.
- Input and maintain data on SITS, Universal Admissions (UA) and bespoke Access databases to a very high standard, working to deadlines and incorporating an understanding of University regulations and procedures.
- Advise students on course structures, systems and deadlines, the support available in CLL and the University more widely and highlighting issues to senior colleagues in CLL.
- Notify students of class cancellations and/or changes, process refunds where applicable.
- Work with the programme co-ordinator to ensure that required student/applicant-related information is received and communicated particularly in relation to enquiries and admissions data.
- Minute meetings as required.
- Issue University cards to non-SITS students.
- Support Marketing team with some web-editing work, particularly to ensure that information is current on student websites.
- Contribute to the reception service by being able to advise enquirers about study opportunities within the Centre and having an understanding of CLL’s Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Professional programmes.
- Assist with general administration tasks and provide support to the Digital Communications Marketing Manager and Recruitment and Marketing Manager as part of the Admissions and Enquiries Team remit.
- Book rooms for teaching, meetings and events.
- Support the Course Directors, Administrator (Admissions, Finance and Operations) and Departmental Administrator in the administration of the courses and any other programme-related administrative duties commensurate with grade.
