The Role: Waste and Recycling Administrator
What we are looking for:
The post-holder will be required to:
- Process requests for service from members of the public. Take action to ensure all notices of missed refuse/recycling collections are dealt with according to agreed service levels
- Advise customers of problems with collections and provide information on services offered
- Provide crews with daily round sheets. Ensure Council databases and systems are regularly updated with information on customers’ special requirements and entitlements. Ensure this information is updated on the Waste Collector system and firm step
- Keep accurate records of all refuse and recycling tonnages
- Assist with amending existing Trade Refuse contracts with initial enquiries, providing quotation, issue contracts and ensure that the signed paperwork is returned
- Arrange the delivery of bins. Issue the statutory Duty of Care certificates in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act, ensuring that all trade customers have copies
- Maintain signed documents within the Council Offices. Liaise with businesses to resolve any collection issues and provide information on services offered
- Assist with raising and processing orders and payment of invoices using the Council’s Finance Systems
- Ensure that all Health & Safety procedures and vehicle maintenance records are kept up to date
- Assist and support the part-time Environmental Services Co-ordinator on co-ordination of the clinical waste collections, hire and allocation of football pitches
- Deal with all Departmental enquiries and complaints, including those appertaining to cemeteries and grounds management, either via the phone or in person, ensuring they are dealt with to a satisfactory conclusion and in accordance to Council policies
- Process requests for additional services. Assist with the monitoring of service provision and environmental enforcement. Assist the department to achieve its targets as specified in the Service Plan
- Undertake any other duties as required by Environmental Support Manager
- You may also be required to undertake administrative duties on behalf of the Electoral Registration Officer and/or the Returning Officer, relating to the registration of electors and the organisation of elections - i.e. processing postal votes and/or canvassing properties during office hours
- You will consider and implement environmental sustainability as a guiding principal within processes, activities and projects delivered
£22,369 - £23,620 per annum, excluding London Weighting
