Job description

Administrative Assistant

Are you interested in supporting social sciences research in a growing research centre committed to using consumer data for the public good?

You will join the Consumer Data Research Centre (CDRC), funded by the UK Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC), as Administrative Assistant.

The Leeds branch of the CDRC is located within the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics (LIDA) at the University of Leeds. First established in 2014, the CDRC delivers insights into human behaviour using consumer and commercial datasets.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As Administrative Assistant for the CDRC, you will:

  • Provide operational support to the CDRC’s Senior Operations Co-ordinator, the Centre’s Co-Directors, its broader core professional services team, its data scientists and academic co-investigators. This will include administrating room bookings, providing diary management, minuting meetings, raising purchase orders, receipting goods, booking catering and arranging travel.
  • Support the CDRC Data Science Teaching Fellow in administrating the CDRC short course training programme, including: booking rooms, advertising courses, handling course registrations, and carrying out pre- and post- training communications with bookers.
  • Support the administration of the CDRC Leeds data service by updating the user log and/or ensuring that electronic paperwork is correctly filed.
  • Respond to, and escalate as appropriate, IT services issues.
  • Provide support to the CDRC Communications and Public Engagement Manager as directed, by uploading and posting content for the CDRC website, e.g. training events, blogs, and research updates. You may also be called on to provide occasional updates to the Centre’s Twitter and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Assist the CDRC in realising its engagement and impact goals by providing operational support and planning for in-person and online events, including engagement events, webinars and training courses.
  • Effectively manage the CDRC email inbox in collaboration with colleagues; responding to and resolving/redirecting incoming requests and initial data service applications.
  • Actively participate in staff team meetings in order to exchange knowledge and information and contribute to group-based decisions and activities.
  • Other duties as required, commensurate with the grade of the post.

These duties provide a framework for the role and should not be regarded as a definitive list. Other reasonable duties may be required consistent with the grade of the post.
