An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic individual to work as an Administration Assistant within our very busy Oncology administration team in the Cancer Care Service at Southampton General Hospital.
The hours are permanent 37.5 per week covering shifts Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:00.
The successful candidate will join a large group of admin staff and work closely with the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators and Team Leaders. You will be working as part of a busy team covering speciality clinical areas for Palliative Care, Clinical Haematology, Medical Oncology and Clinical Oncology, to ensure the best possible care and healthcare experience for patients within Cancer Care.

Your Responsibilities
What you’ll do
You will work closely with your team of patient pathway coordinators to support the delivery of a comprehensive administration service with varied duties including managing the transcription of clinic letters, follow-on actions from the outpatient clinics, facilitating the sending of electronic referrals, booking clinic and bloods appointments, receiving telephone calls from patients, updating the patient database, and general administration duties for the department such as photocopying, scanning and distribution of mail.
You will provide administrative support utilising the hospital IT systems such as CHARTS and eCamis, and Office software such as Outlook, Word and Excel. Knowledge of the Trust's electronic systems would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

We are looking for a pro-active individual who can work with minimum supervision and be able to prioritise your own workload. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with patients and team members, so it is important to be articulate and polite. You will need to be able to work well across a large team with a flexible approach to multi-tasking.
