The Open Mental Alliance is growing from strength to strength and we are actively investing in our infrastructure and expanding our team. The VCFSE alliance was formed to develop a bold new community-based mental health support service for Somerset residents and Rethink Mental Illness is the lead accountable body for this alliance.
In 2019 Somerset received trailblazer funding to develop and implement new models of community based mental health care, that integrate clinical and voluntary sector provision, in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the NHS community mental health framework. That model of care is now known as Open Mental Health and is delivered by a partnership between the NHS, social care, and a VCFSE alliance. The award winning Open Mental Health has received national recognition and is cited in NHSE guidance as an exemplar.
Working under the direction of the Open Mental Health (OMH) Alliance Administrative Manager, you will provide administrative support to the Open Mental Health Lead Accountable Body Team, by undertaking a variety of tasks that support the responsibilities and duties of Rethink, as the Lead Accountable Body of the alliance.
As an administrative officer working for Rethink Mental Illness as part of the OMH Lead Accountable Body Team, you will be responsible for working closely with the Administrative Manager, the Senior Business and Partnership Manager, Co-production manager and officers and the members of the marketing and communications team.
What I do and achieve
- Under the direction of the Administrative Manager, I support the administrative function for events, training, workshops and meetings, including convening meetings, booking rooms, managing attendance, recording actions and taking and distributing notes.
- I build relationships with partners and those involved in our work, providing them with support, guidance, information & resources as required.
- I support the development of documents, reports, brochures or proposals as required, using various software applications
- I input to and maintain effective electronic filing systems
- I provide administrative support, as required, to the OMH small grants programme.
- I manage appointments and arrange travel and hotel bookings
- I liaise with external agencies and suppliers to order goods and services.
- I liaise with partners to support the process for execution of grant and sub-contract agreements across the OMH network.
- I support the gathering and submission of data as required, both for Rethink Mental Illness and for the VCFSE Alliance and Lead Accountable Body.
- I ensure the voice of lived experience is embedded within all of the areas of work I am involved in.
- I represent Rethink Mental Illness and Open Mental Health at events as appropriate.
Who I am?
- Based in or near Somerset – home based with some travel
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Somerset mental health systems
- Experience of partnership working, including maintaining strong working partner relationships in a VCSE environment
- Understanding and experience of working with people who use mental health services
- Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of the Charity
- Good standard of education with English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent Diploma relevant to post
- Experience of working in a busy customer focused administrative environment
- Experience of servicing meetings, including taking minutes and preparing reports
- Experience of handling data, including producing accurate data submissions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including word, excel, powerpoint, outlook and teams
- Good verbal & written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills
- Able to work effectively as part of a team with flexible approach to undertaking a wider variety of tasks.
- Ability to plan / prioritise own work
- The initiative and enthusiasm to take part in all aspects of a busy department ensuring that a high, professional standard of work is maintained in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Appointments will be at the minimum of the band.
- London Allowance is paid for roles that are based within the Greater London area only.
