JOB DESCRIPTION
CLASS 1 HGV DRIVER – TIER 2
Job Title Class 1 HGV Articulated Tipper Driver – Tier 2
Job Description Drive a Class 1 HGV articulated tipper to deliver and collect as instructed by your Line Manager to locations in a safe and effective manner with due regard for all Health & Safety and mandatory HGV working time legislation
Reporting To Wayne Jones – Transport Manager
Place of work Oswestry or Shawbury depending on location
Qualifications Required (Tier 2)
- Class 1 HGV Licence
- Current CPC
- Digi Tacho Card
- Tipper Experience
- 6 Points or less on Licence
Training Provided
FORS Silver Training/Qualification
EPIC Card
Note – The Company will pay for the training noted above however once the
qualification is obtained if you leave within 12 months this will be re-paid by
the employee and deducted from your final salary. Retention of the position is
dependent on you passing these qualifications within 3 months of
commencing your employment
On achieving both the qualifications you will move to the Tier 1 salary
Responsibilities
To deliver & collect items as instructed by the Transport Manager as follows:
- Safely load as instructed from relevant quarry or other collection point
- Ensure relevant paperwork is completed accurately and checked
- Deliver to site/location as instructed observing any specific Site H & S Policies and where none exist ensuring you offload in a safe manner
- If requested to offload at a specific point, ensure it is safe to do so and will not cause unnecessary damage either to vehicle or other Third-Party property.
- Pay due regard for Health & Safety and HGV working time regulations always when carrying out all your work
- Use tachographs as legally required to do so taking mandatory breaks and observing total weekly/ fortnightly working hours relevant to European Working
Time Regulations
- Attend CPC Courses as and when required to maintain Driver CPC which is a mandatory requirement
- Ensure vehicle is always in a safe working condition
- Deliver vehicle for regular service checks as instructed by Transport Manager
- If any fault occurs between inspections ensure it is dealt at the soonest possible opportunity and if considered dangerous then immediately
- Regularly check oil and water levels on vehicle, tyre tread and pressures and check & tighten wheel nuts at regular intervals.
- Ensure vehicle is clean, tidy and regularly washed and secured at night in a safe place
- Any other reasonable duties as requested to meet the needs of the business.
- Ensure Daily Walkaround check is completed and correctly reported
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, so hours are as required but to meet the needs of the
business and comply with Drivers Hours Rules (EC)561/2006 & Working Time
Directive 2002/15/EC
Broadly 48 Hours per week plus breaks as taken and recorded on Tachograph
96 hours over two weeks plus breaks as taken and recorded on Tachograph
Note – it is your responsibility to ensure you work within this legislation and keep the
appropriate records
Holidays
21 days holiday per annum plus Bank Holidays
Tier 2 - Class 1 - Rate of Pay
£30,000 per annum payable monthly (£2,500.00 per month)
Plus bonus of £100 per month after probationary period of three months paid quarterly in arrears provided paperwork is in order and no damage done to vehciccle
Sat morning work if applicable @ £15.00 per hour
Nights out if applicable @ £25.00 per night

Salary: £30,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
