Job Description
Performs a variety of administrative functions. Schedules appointments, gives information to callers, manages charts, takes money, assists staff therapists with clerical work as appropriate, prepares billing worksheets and invoices, generates reports, handles multiple projects. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision; reports to rehab manager.
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for providing secretarial support in the functional areas of correspondence, data retrieval and compilation, record keeping, communications, confidentiality, and coordinating services for the department. Major responsibility of assuring reimbursement of services. Assists with referral intake, registration, and patient’s initial eligibility/pre-certification and verifies ongoing therapy eligibility with admissions/business office personnel. Assists Director in completing documentation including monthly reports and statistics. Responsible for assuring that all outpatient charts are completed and originals sent to HIM monthly for billing. Coordinates therapists’ daily schedules. Supervises aides when aides are involved with clerical/receptionist duties. Assures prompt receipt of signed plans of care from Physicians in the outpatient area. Also, responsible for correct batching and/or input of daily charges in accordance with policies and procedures. Other responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining treatment areas and equipment; and assisting therapy staff under the direct supervision of a Physical Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistant and Speech-Language Pathologist
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Must possess a high school diploma. Prefer 1-2 years college or 3-5 years related experience.
Diploma or transcripts will be required upon hire.
Experience:
Prefer at least two years experience in a hospital or medically related environment, specifically in the billing/collection/insurance area.
