Job description

We have one post available in Children's Outpatients - 25 hours per week

Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays (between 08:00 and 17:00)

Some flexibility with days of work would be beneficial for service needs

Undertake general administrative tasks, including:
  • Outpatient reception duties, dealing with patient queries face-to-face or by telephone, booking appointments for out-patients attending clinics, liaising with staff/patients in a courteous
and professional manner.
  • Answering the telephone, actioning patient queries, taking telephone messages and relaying/transferring them to the appropriate person/department.
  • Receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail, paper and/or electronic.
  • Responding to email patient/appointment queries and actioning requests as appropriate.
  • Filing - paper and/or electronic
  • Photocopying/Scanning
  • Accurate data entry and interpretation of Trust databases and systems, including our patient administration system, Lorenzo and the NHS e-Referral Service (eRS)
  • To be aware when to refer a query/issue onwards for resolution, escalating as necessary
  • Undertake clerical duties in a professional, timely manner, ensuring deadlines are met, prioritising work and problem solving on a regular basis to achieve the best outcome.
  • Alert the team to potential workload issues to agree actions and ensure negative outcomes are minimised.
  • Requirement for light physical work in the movement of patients casenotes.
You will be part of our highly valued administration and clerical team that delivers essential outpatient administration services to the Royal Derby Hospital and Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. These essential and rewarding roles will also provide you with a great grounding from which to progress your career towards more senior roles should you have the ambition and talent.
