Would you like to make a difference for service users for your local Diabetic Eye Screening Programme? As our Engagement Officer you will use co-production, insight and engagement methods so that people and communities can actively participate in our service, which meets their needs. We are looking for someone creative and proactive that likes to engage with individuals and groups on all levels and all abilities both internally and externally.
Applicant would be expected to travel to venues across Hampshire & Isle of Wight to engage with stakeholders and attend events to highlight the excellent work being done in the programme.
Our main focus within engagement is to deliver education on the awareness & importance of attending Diabetic eye screening and improve the attendance uptake for the programme.
As part of the engagement team, you would be involved with presentations, projects, audits, events and other networking meetings and opportunities.

This is a full-time role based in Hampshire paying £21,630

To increase efficiency, we also built our own software system which enables us to adapt and change to meet the requirements our employees to achieve a better user experience.
We’re currently recruiting an Engagement Officer to be responsible for communications, promotions and stakeholder/community engagement activities and feedback to ensure good coverage, uptake and participation including in respect of underserved communities or seldom heard groups and that the Programme is fully integrated across the entire patient pathway; two-way discussions take place; views are heard and acted upon and that close collaborative relationships are formed.
Key duties
- To assist the Stakeholder and Quality Assurance Manager in the development and implementation of communication, promotional NHS and professional stakeholders engagement activities including (not exclusively) with CCGs; LMCs; Local Authority Directors of Public Health and their teams; GP Practices; Hospital Eye services, Maternity, Paediatrics and Diabetology; that will gather intelligence and insight to ensure effective interface/integration, information dissemination/transfer and working relationships to the benefits of patient experience and safety
- To obtain patient, user/carer and professional intelligence and insight through effective patient, carer and professional engagement including though the implementation Patient, Partner, Stakeholder, User forums and patient engagement structures/forums
- To implement, co-ordinate and arrange the professional and patient engagement structures/forums required to support effective engagement in the Programme including partner forums, stakeholder forums, service user forums and local learning disability support
- With a specific focus on the underserved communities or seldom heard groups including those with learning disabilities, patients within areas of greater deprivation and non-responders; assist the Stakeholder & Quality Assurance Manager in the implementation of appropriate consultation activities
- To undertake and report on patient satisfaction and other experience surveys as per Policies
- Provide expertise to the Programme on the cultural, language, ethnic and faith issues that may be impacting on attendance and non-responders
Experience and qualifications
- Experience of working within the diverse communities served

- Awareness of general and cultural issues as they relate to Hard to Reach/Faith groups
- Awareness of the linguistic and cultural backgrounds of targeted groups
- Diversity and Equality legislation and issues
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with community/voluntary groups
- Quantitative and Qualitative research methods and statistics
- Training/experience of Marketing and/or public Communication/ stakeholder engagement
