Salary: Regional Base salary: £36,300 pa to £45,350 pa depending on skills and experience. London Base Salary £39,250 pa to £49,100. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As an Active Travel Manager at HS2 you will This role is responsible for project managing the development and delivery of a programme of active travel work packages across Phase 1 and Phase 2 in collaboration with the Project Client and Senior Project Managers, working effectively and collaboratively with HS2 and Supply Chain resource in the Integrated Project Team (IPT), Design Delivery Partner (DDP) or pre-post/ hybrid bill teams to fulfil clearly defined HS2 accountabilities which enable efficient delivery of assigned scope to agreed budget, time and quality parameters
About the role:
- To be responsible for supporting the Active Travel Lead in effectively and efficiently co-managing the Active Travel work packages either with an Integrated Project Team in Phase 1 the Design Delivery Partner in Phase 2a and/or with the HS2 Phase 2b team and partners.
- To be responsible for supporting the Active Travel Lead and Senior Project Managers in establishing, monitoring and managing delivery of consistent project and contract management, including identification of emergent or systemic problems, leading to resolution.
• To be responsible for managing and monitoring project and contract performance. • To review and accept programme schedule, review and report to the HS2 Active Travel group attendees.
- To be responsible for supporting the Active Travel Lead in proactively managing risks within agreed or proposed scope and support the mitigation of HS2 programme level risks
- To be responsible for supporting a collaborative culture which enables high performance by encouraging innovation and knowledge sharing between HS2 as the client and various contracting parties and stakeholders both internal and external to achieve the legacy of an Active Travel corridor, networks and nodes

- Analysis - the ability to analyse inputs, assess data in order to assist in the development of strategies and document supporting rationales.
Knowledge :
- Knowledge of current Active Travel Policy, tools, guidance and technical standards.
- Knowledge of planning legislation and consents related to active travel delivery
- Knowledge of land and property considerations relating to Active Travel infrastructure development and delivery.
- Knowledge of key mechanisms utilised in Active Travel such as Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) Walking Cycling and Horse riding Review (WCHAR)
- Knowledge of geographical information systems (GIS) and their application for transport planning.
- Knowledge of active travel project design development and delivery.
- Understanding of the nature of the relevant contract structures and the application of appropriate contract and supplier performance systems.
- Understanding of risk identification and management
- Understanding of project schedule management, dependencies and risk assessment
Type of Experience :
- Experience of the entire project lifecycle including programme planning, procuring, developing and implementing active travel project activities to current approved standards.
- Experience in engagement across multi-disciplinary teams on a major infrastructure project.
- Experience in community and stakeholder engagement in relation to a major infrastructure project.
- Experience in information management and reporting across a complex major infrastructure project.
- Experience of leading, managing people and working across functions and disciplines to deliver objectives
- Qualification in project management, engineering, active travel delivery, commercial management or the equivalent experience
