Job description
The Acquisitions Editor assists the Director in administering the publishing program of Clemson University Press, functioning as liaison with its overseas partner, Liverpool University Press. Primary responsibilities are to commission new books and help build the Press's publishing portfolio. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Commission approximately 20 monographs and/or edited collections per year in the following areas: literary modernism, African American literature, Irish literature and culture, literature and the arts, and regional topics. Manage the peer-review process, advise authors/editors on manuscript revisions, and pitch books to the Editorial Advisory Board. Remain current with scholarly trends in the field of literary modernism.
30% - Essential - Ensure that authors and editors adhere to Press procedures and deadlines. Vet illustrative materials for print quality and permissions, advising authors and editors as needed through the permissions process. Prepare all submitted materials for transmission into production.
10% - Essential - Prepare for and represent the Press at conferences and exhibits.
5% - Non-Essential - Assist the Director in long-term planning, budgeting, and financial matters. Responsibilities include: receipting checks; submitting receipts and invoices in Buyways; managing the hiring and payment of freelancers and vendors; other duties as assigned by the Director.
5% - Non-Essential - Supervise graduate assistants and interns with an emphasis on their professional development.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Relevant program experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Field related to the Clemson University publishing program
Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Literary Modernism
Experience - 3+ years

Standard Hours: 37.5; Anticipated Hiring Range: $47,100.00 - $52,500.00
