Job Introduction

Who we are

BBC Children in Need believes that every child should have the chance to thrive and be the best they can be.

We are committed to being there for children across the UK when they need us the most. Together with the BBC and our partners, we inspire the nation to support this work.

What do we support?

BBC Children in Need is here to make sure that every child has the childhood they deserve – and the support they need to thrive.

We are committed to funding the grassroots organisations and project workers across the UK that provide the vital positive relationships children need to help them navigate the challenges in their lives. Our project workers support, inspire and champion them to ensure they have opportunities and can reach their goals. And that will always be our approach.

We fund thousands of charities and projects in every corner of the UK, that support children and young people to feel and be safer, have improved mental health and wellbeing, form better, more positive relationships and be given more equal opportunities to flourish.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Income, Marketing & Communications, you will be responsible for devising and leading our mass engagement income strategy, driving year on year growth, with a focus on diversifying current income streams, while protecting existing levels of support. You will focus on channels including community mass participation in support of our annual campaign, direct fundraising including regular giving, digital fundraising and legacies, events and our schools programme.

Are you the right candidate?

It essential that you possess comprehensive fundraising experience and a strong track-record in developing and implementing income generation strategies. This will have ideally been gained within a major UK-charity, where you will have had experience in managing a fundraising team across a range of models and streams.

You will also have strong project management experience and the ability to flex plans in response to emerging issues or opportunities. You’ll have the ability to develop and manage clear plans and reporting mechanisms so that all stakeholders understand their role and accountabilities, and progress can be monitored on a regular basis.

About the BBC

We don’t focus simply on what we do – we also care how we do it. Our values and the way we behave are important to us. Please make sure you’ve read about our values and behaviours in the document attached below.

Diversity matters at the BBC. We have a working environment where we value and respect every individual's unique contribution, enabling all of our employees to thrive and achieve their full potential.

We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of the BBC – whether that’s to contribute to our programming or our wide range of non-production roles. The more diverse our workforce, the better able we are to respond to and reflect our audiences in all their diversity.

We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from individuals, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion and/or belief. We will consider flexible working requests for all roles, unless operational requirements prevent otherwise.
