Overview:
The post forms part of an Accounts Payable Team which comprises 5 team members who are responsible for the raising of Purchase Orders, the payment of invoices, assisting with the maintenance of Scottish Government Payment Performance targets and the provision of general Accounts Payable advice across all Transport Scotland Directorates.
Transport Scotland is the national transport agency for Scotland and is accountable to Parliament and the public through Scottish Ministers, with a budget of around £3.5 billion per year. Transport Scotland is recruiting for two Accounts Payable & Administration Support Officers to be responsible for facilitating payments within Transport Scotland;

- To raise and receipt purchase orders and to monitor Transport Scotland Finance Purchase Order Requests Mailbox on a daily basis and download all requests.
- To log and forward invoices in a timely manner, ensuring the bespoke Invoice Register is updated as payments are processed.
- To work within the team to process invoices for payment promptly, ensuring correct authorisations and controls are in place and to liaise on a regular basis with colleagues across Transport Scotland as required.
- To utilise Financial Ledger and other bespoke systems to process payments.
- To assist Accounts Payable colleagues to upload and file information into the electronic storage system.
- To assist the team in meeting Scottish Government Payment Performance Targets.
- To assist with day-to-day enquiries and other general ad-hoc administrative tasks.

Essential Criteria
1. You should have previous experience of working in a Finance environment and/or administration.
2. You should possess excellent Organisational skills, with the ability to organise and prioritise workload and work effectively within a team.
3. You should possess good communication skills.
4. You should have a general understanding of Word and Excel.
Minimum Time in Post
You will be expected to remain in post for a minimum of three years unless successful at gaining promotion to a higher Band or Grade.
In the event that further posts are required, a reserve list of successful candidates will be kept for up to 12 months.
Location
This post is based in Glasgow, with hybrid working in line with current Scottish Government policies.
The post is a full time role, but staff with different working patterns are invited to apply, and we will assess proposed working patterns against the business requirements for this post.
