Finance Business Partner - Urban Pubs
Based at either : Burton-On-Trent/Bury St Edmunds or 'field based' with regular site presence
We have a fantastic opportunity to join us as Finance Business Partner for Greene King pubs which is the largest trading division within Greene King and includes c. 900 Managed pubs consisting of:
- c. 300 Urban Pubs, a collection of urban centric iconic pubs driven by an industry leading pipeline of innovation
- c. 600 Local Pubs, a collection of community pubs creating occasions for customers to 'Stay Local'

The Business Partner role will support the Urban Pubs Business Unit Director providing insight, analysis and challenge to support decision making and to drive the profitability of the Business Unit. Leading the financial analysis of the investment in Urban Pubs, as well as supporting the wider Greene King pubs finance processes. This is an exciting role with the opportunity to help drive the performance of a region and being a key cog in decision making for the Business unit across Sales Driving, Capital Expenditure, Labour management & Cost Control.
Key Accountabilities:
- Alignment to a Business Unit ('BU'), working closely with the Business Unit Director ('BUD'), providing insight, financial analysis and support.
- Support will range from business performance analysis to cost control, with the ultimate aim of helping to deliver the BU P&L targets and drive profitability.
- Experience the business by being out in trade regularly to understand implications of decisions and opportunities.
- Reviewing and interrogating investment business cases (Project justifications) during the Investment appraisal process, with recommendations for improvements as well as opportunities/threats highlighted.
- Timely and insightful analysis with recommendations to key customers, ensuring informed business decisions are made.
- Finance Lead for the Urban Pubs leadership team on weekly and periodic performance reviews.
- Provide support to the Financial Controller and Finance Director on ad-hoc analysis.
- Review period accounts ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Creation of P&L budgets / forecasts.
- Provide support across the wider Managed Finance teams in the annual budget process
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
About you...
Fully/or part qualified in CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent with experience of working in a commercially facing finance role preferably from within a retail business. You will be confident with Excel and ideally have experience of using COGNOS 10. We are looking for a confident communicator with a proactive can do attitude and a passion for pubs with plenty of energy!
