Teix Financial Inc. is a leading life insurance company dedicated to providing financial protection and peace of mind to our valued customers. We are currently seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to oversee the building and managing of our accounting department. As the Accounting Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our organization. You will be responsible for the entire department, including creating new processes, billing customers, commission statements, and payroll.
Our ideal candidate is operationally focused with a financial lens.
Responsibilities:
1. - Financial Management: Take full ownership of the accounting function, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely completion of financial statements, management reports, cash flow statement, and related analyses.
2. - Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering their growth and development. Delegate responsibilities effectively, set clear performance expectations, and provide regular feedback to drive excellence within the department.
3. - Creating New Processes: Identify areas for process improvement within the accounting department and develop and implement new processes to streamline operations, increase efficiency, and maintain accuracy.
4. - Billing Customers: Oversee customer billing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to resolve any billing discrepancies and maintain positive relationships with customers.
5. - Commission Statements: Manage the preparation and distribution of commission statements for agents and brokers. Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and contractual agreements.
6. - Payroll: Oversee payroll processes, including payroll calculations, deductions, and tax withholdings. Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for employees.
7. - Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Develop and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
8. - Month-end and Year-end Closing: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely completion of all necessary activities, such as accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries. Review and analyze financial results to identify trends, opportunities, and areas of improvement.
9. - Financial Planning and Analysis: Collaborate with senior management to develop and monitor annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
10. - Audit and Taxation: Coordinate and liaise with external auditors and tax advisors during annual audits and tax filings. Ensure accurate and timely submission of required financial documents and respond to audit inquiries promptly.
Requirements:
- Business degree majoring in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA qualification preferred).
- Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or in a similar leadership role within the financial services industry.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance (GAAP, IFRS, etc.).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.
- Proficient in using accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven track record in driving process improvements and implementing best practices.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, meeting strict deadlines.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role.
