Job description
The Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC) Finance Department is looking for a permanent, full-time Accounting Analyst to perform a variety of specialized finance department duties. Based at the NTC main office in Port Alberni, this position will perform database designs, data analysis, statistical reporting, accounting process review and streamlining as advised, data entry, coding, statement reconciliation, report generation, and cheque preparation.
Responsibilities Include
- Collects financial data sets for analytical and statistical reports.
- Designs and maintains Access Databases for the various program areas.
- Reconciles NTC Ledger accounts including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Supports the review and streamlining of accounting processes, including the drafting of new forms.
- Performs routine accounting functions, such as receiving, coding, and data entering of invoices, report preparation, and cheque processing.
- Reviews and reconciles vendor accounts and statements.
- Assists in preparation and processing of payroll and is backup for the entire payroll process if required.
- Assists in the administration of benefits and associated employee leaves such as Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and addresses any payroll-related queries.
- Assists the Payroll & Benefits Specialist in the preparation of all payroll related required reporting, including, but not limited to, Receiver General and Registered Pension Plan remittances, WorkSafeBC reporting, Sunlife Rehab Earning Statements, Employer Health Tax reports, Benefits reconciliations, and other required compliance reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- College Diploma with accounting focus and three (3) years of financial accounting and analysis experience (1-year of Full Cycle Accounting and 2-years of accounting); working toward a Chartered Professional Accounting designation considered an asset.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and process high volumes of information with speed and accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to problem solve.
- Proficient in the full MS Office program suite including Excel; experience with Adagio an asset.
- Possess a valid BC Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for business travel.
- Able to present a criminal record check and references (available to call).
Competitive benefit package. Salary range $50,000 - $58,000, based on qualifications and experience.
