We are seeking a driven, dedicated individual to serve as a Staff Accountant with our Financial Services team.
Job Description:
Staff Accountant
Reports to: Director of Financial Services
The Staff Accountant is responsible for data entry and journal entries on a monthly basis as well as various reconciliations and clerical task. The Staff Accountant will work with the Director of Financial Services and other members of the accounting department to ensure that all tasks are completed timely and efficiently.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Essential Job Duties:
- Compile and input data into appropriate accounting software for month end.
- Prepare and enter journal entries as needed.
- Analyze and reconcile specific General Ledger accounts in Blackline.
- Assist with cash deposits as assigned by Director.
- Prepare bank & investment account reconciliations as assigned by Director.
- Update fixed assets and keep documentation for fiscal year audit.
- Works with auditors at year end to complete audit requests and confirmations.
- Maintain ledgers for various funds including Chapel Fund, Employee Appreciation Fund, Food and Toy Drive etc.
Other Duties:
- Provide support and assistance to the billing team as needed including IL monthly billing statements.
- Provide support and assistance to accounts payable.
- Track restricted donations and releases for year end audit.
- Assist residents with questions or inquiries.
- Attend in-service trainings and meetings as required by Director.
- Provide assistance with donations and thank you letters
- Performs additional specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Four Year Degree in accounting or finance or related field with a minimum of 3 years experience in Accounting including General Ledger, Cash, Accounts Payable, and Fixed Assets.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office a must.
- Experience preferred but not required: Oracle Accounting Software, Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge fundraising software, work experience in a nonprofit environment.
- Must be able to handle a multiplicity of routine tasks, following specific instructions carefully and general instructions completely.
