About the role:
As a result of fast growth and associated increase in complexity, we are seeking a Capital Accountant to join our finance team. This role will report into our Senior Capital Accountant and work with two Assistant Capital Accountants in the processing of, and accounting for, property acquisitions and associated entries.
This role offers hybrid working - 2 -3 days office based.
Duties include:
- Assisting the Senior Capital Accountant in preparation and processing of acquisition payments, ensuring all necessary checks are complete before processing payment for authorisation
- Liaison with stakeholders including Legal, Acquisitions and Delivery teams to prioritise acquisition payments and manage weekly payments schedules
- Tracking payments on contract sum analysis (CSA) schedules for payments made to date
- Posting and reconciliation of acquisition related invoices, such as legal fees
- Preparation of accounting entries related to housing fixed assets
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including solicitors bank accounts
- Supports Tax Manager with SDLT and CIS returns and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assists in the preparation of invoices to developers for defect recharges
- Supports Senior Capital Accountant in maintaining aged debtor analysis and produces monthly reporting relating to defect recharges
- Oversees and supports Assistant Capital Accountants, reviewing their outputs and managing their workload where appropriate
- Ad hoc reporting or accounting as required to support the dynamic environment
- Supporting systems upgrades including assistance with identifying requirements, designing and testing new solutions
About you
- Part-qualified/nearly-qualified accountant (ACA,ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Audit or Real Estate background highly desirble
- Proactive and professional with high levels of attention to detail and diligence
- Highly numerate with confident communication skills
- Solid written communication abilities
- Able to forge strong working relationships and is a great team player
- Excellent knowledge of Excel ( experience of or willingness to learn Macros)
- Experience of general ledger accounting in an ERP system
- Highly organised and possesses a strong desire to improve current working practices
