Primary Purpose
The primary purpose of this job is to manage the daily accounting operations of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger for the ORS Canada division of ORS Medco, a private equity backed company headquartered in the USA. Work with the Corporate Accounting Department (USA) on monthly, quarterly and year end close processes, process improvements and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all accounting transactions. The Accounting Supervisor has a dual reporting relationship to the Division General Manager and the Corporate Accounting Department.
Major Responsibilities
- Manage and oversees accounting team (A/R, A/P, credit and collections, general ledger)
- Optimize accounting department resources so that duties are properly staffed, segregated, and cross trained. Manages and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Manage tax inquiries and preparation of relevant information required for tax filings. (GST/HST/QST)
- Review and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close including journal entry preparation, subledger and GL reconciliation.
- Ensure the timely reporting of monthly financial information.
- Maintain ownership of ORS Canada divisional P&L and Balance Sheet transactions ensuring US GAAP compliance.
- Conduct vendor relations, customer/credit relations.
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation records (book & tax)
- Coordinate cash requirements with Corporate Cash Management
- Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
- Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- In coordination with the Corporate FP&A team, provide division financial analysis and reporting to support multiple functional areas.
- Provides financial support and counsel to the Division General Manager.

Skills/Knowledge Required
- · Demonstrated experience in accounting, thorough knowledge of accounting principles, theories and practical applications including US GAAP
- · Strong overall understanding of the financial close process
- · Supervisor experience and ability to motivate a team.
- · Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage workflow and meet deadlines.
- · Excellent oral and written communication skills
- · Self-starter with a strong work ethic
- · Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; strong Excel skills in data compilation and aggregation (e.g., pivot tables, V-lookup)
- · Experience using accounting systems/applications.
- · Ability to work independently and in a Team Environment
Education and/or Experience
- · Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance,
- · Minimum 5 years directly applicable work experience
- · Supervisory experience required.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $90,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
