NRM is the UK’s largest independent provider of agronomic and environmental waste analysis for land-based industries. We offer water, soil, manures, fertilisers and plant tissue analysis to farmers, growers and agronomists for improved farm productivity, as well as land-based environmental services including composted waste, anaerobic digestate, effluents and industrial renewables.
NRM have an opportunity for an Analyst – Environment, on a full-time permanent basis, based in Bracknell.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Extraction and analysis of fresh Environmental Waste/ Samples, IBA and Slurry samples according to UKAS and PAS110.
· Undertake a wide range of extraction techniques:
i. WAC leachate preparation on Soil and IBA samples.
ii. COD and BOD analysis on slurry, manure, and water samples.
iii. Organic extraction on Enviro Soils. (PAH, PCB, EPH, ES)
iv. Steam Distillation on Enviro Soils (Phenol, Cyanide)
v. Steam Distillation on Slurry samples (VFA)
vi. Biotin extraction.
vii. Iodine Extraction.
· Check data before releasing results and transfer onto the LIMS system.
· Maintain Cawood credibility by always portraying a positive image, keeping equipment and PPE clean.
· Respect company equipment and use as per guidelines and to report any damage to management as soon as possible.
· Work as a team and maintain morale and actively offer help and assistance wherever possible. Required to work in other analytical roles within the company as the workload dictates.
· Keeping safety at the forefront of laboratory work and being proactive ensuring accidents and near misses are always reported straightaway to managers in line with our company accreditation and policy.
· When required, assist with on-site training of new employees providing proactive support ensuring their onboarding into the company is friendly, engaging, and inspiring.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
· The candidate ideally requires experience in operating a wide range of instrumentation:
i. Oil and Grease Analyser
ii. PH Titrator
iii. HPLC
iv. GC-FID
V. GC-MS
vi. GC-MS Headspace
· Enthusiasm, energy, and ability to handle high levels of workload.
· Must be able to work effectively and collaborate within own team and other sections.
· Must take initiative and have the ability to conduct hands-on work.
· Strong communication skills
· Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks with high attention to detail.
· Highly organised and excellent time management skills.
· Excellent team player with the ability to work alone.
· Experience working with high-volume turnover of work in a busy environment
