Northrop Grumman is looking for an Associate Accountant. Position will utilize SAP to support Accounts Receivable processing in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, company policies and procedures, disclosure statements, and government regulations. Candidate must demonstrate an understanding of basic accounting principles and concepts, and be able to communicate AR related accounting policies and procedures, as well as demonstrating analytical and problem solving skills. A successful candidate should have excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Process incoming cash receipts, lockbox payments, check deposits, AR refunds, write-offs, and intercompany cash transfers
- Maintain reporting for metric information, reconcile GL cash accounts
- Support, analyze and researching unidentified receipts with bank and/or customer
- Assist with internal and external audit inquiries
- Process incoming mail and web tickets
- Participate in projects and/or process improvement tasks as appropriate
Basic Qualifications - to be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance
- Excellent leadership, communication (verbal and written) and organization skills
- Strong attention to detail and accounting orientation
- Must be able to handle multiple assignments, meet tight deadlines, and work to metrics
- Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications – candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- SAP experience
- Experience in a financial services environment
- A strong understanding of accounting and cash controls
- Government contracting experience
- Understanding of FAR, GAAP, CAS, and SOX requirement
