Job description
This is an important role that will take a lead in statutory financial reporting, consolidation, audit and treasury. The role will also support the Head of Finance and Executive on controls and forecasting. This represents considerable opportunity for the right individual to have a demonstrable impact on the financial performance of this successful and entrepreneurial business.
Due to the size of the Finance team, there will be opportunity to get involved in all aspects of Finance as well as ad hoc analysis. In this commercially focussed role, time will be spent both with Finance and non-Finance teams, as well as Senior managers.
This role would suit an individual with an entrepreneurial instinct who has the attention to detail and analytical mindset that can bring insights as to how we can continue to deliver ‘value for money’, whilst meeting a variety of statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Consolidation of group accounts
- Ownership of the balance sheet across the group, ensuring statutory compliance
- Management of the statutory audit and relationship with external auditors
- Delivering improvement projects within finance and supporting non-finance teams to help identify suitable areas for cost improvements
- Oversight of periodic payment runs and maintaining a view of cash levels
- Driving improvements in the stock and expenditure control environment, across the commercial business
- Developing the stock control systems at the new bonded warehouse site
- Design and implement robust processes to mitigate financial risks
- Management of foreign currency exchange
- Ad hoc analysis as required by Head of Finance and Executive
- Opportunity to experience all aspects of Finance
- Deputising for Financial Controller as required
About you
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), likely recently qualified
- Experience of implementing new processes and improving control environments
- Experience with statutory reporting, Audit and compliance
- Experience working with stock (desirable)
- Experience working in an FMCG/Retail/Wholesale environment or if from practice, with clients operating in these environments (desirable)
- Experience in a multi-currency working environment (desirable)
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence both financial and non-financial people
- Excellent organisation skills and attention to detail
- Strong IT (advanced Excel) and technical financial skills
- Ability to prioritise and manage upwards
