Located in Philadelphia, our company is a 4th generation family-owned food wholesale distribution company. In the past several years we have experienced tremendous growth and are now looking to add to our team.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional that is detail oriented, systematic, well-organized, and a high-energy team player with a commitment to continuous process improvement. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accounting Clerk will use his/her technical accounting and system skills with initiative and a can-do attitude that can be applied to produce accurate information within the required time limit to ensure that all deadlines and reporting requirements are met with minimum supervision.
Summary:
As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including data entry, reconciling invoices, processing payments, maintaining company A/P email and correspondence, and assisting with month-end closing procedures. Your meticulous diligence and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently will contribute to maintaining our financial records with accuracy and precision.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily data entry of financial transactions, including invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Reconcile and verify invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
- Assist with accounts payable and credits for accounts receivable processes.
- Process payments, issue checks, and prepare bank transactions.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and information.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in accounting or business preferred, High school diploma or equivalent mandatory; additional education in accounting or related field is a plus.
- 5+ Years experience as an accounting clerk or similar role.
- Ability to follow directions given and complete tasks as instructed.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with food distribution or related industries is a plus.
