Overview of the role:
As an Accounts Assistant, you will need to liaise closely with key internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve your objectives. As a key point of contact for the Business Unit’s Finance function, you will need to be approachable and knowledgeable and be able to advise and respond to queries in a professional and courteous manner.
This role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, with an emphasis on continuous improvement and the chance of future development opportunities.
This position will be key in delivering accurate and timely financial data and reporting in accordance with the Group Finance Calendar.
Your Responsibilities as an Accounts Assistant:
- Support the management accountant with various month end tasks and be responsible for posting standard journals.
- Intercompany reconciliations - preparation of the month end Intercompany reporting, circulating to intercompany parties within the JCB Group, input into our reporting system and mismatch resolution.
- Accounts payable processing - supporting the Purchase ledger clerk with three-way match processing in SAP.
- External supplier statement reconciliations
- Assisting the management accountant with balance sheet reconciliations
- Accruals & Prepayments - mainly linked to Accounts Payable e.g., committed accrual, parked invoice accrual and other ad hoc accruals and prepayment postings.
- Improvement of key processes to streamline and improve efficiency.
- Working as part of a team and assisting with cover for other members of the finance team as required by the manager.
About you:
We are ideally seeking candidates who are AAT qualified and intending to continue with their professional development through further qualifications. Previous experience of working within a Finance function is essential. You will have a high level of numeracy and be confident in using Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, VLOOKUPS, POWER QUERIES etc.). Previous experience in using SAP is desired.
We need someone who can work within an established team and can deliver continuous improvement – challenging the status quo, problem solving and actively looking to develop more efficient practices. You will have experience of working with high volumes and tight deadlines, with personal accountability to organise and prioritise your own workload, whilst demonstrating careful attention to detail and adhering to Group Accounting Policies.
