Position: Accommodation Manager
Responsible to: Operations Manager
Responsible for: All directly employed staff, all sub-contract staff regular and reactive. All daily student resident matters; face to face and all other forms of communication - planned and reactive, liaison with external services, for example University, visitors, guests and local authorities where required.
Main Function of the Role:
To provide a high-quality experience & service for all student residents, their families, friends and guests across all u-student properties, ensuring exceptional customer service is provided at all times as the first point of contact.
Ensuring the efficient day to day running of u-student sites, dealing with compliance, regulations, operational procedures, policies and standards as set by u-student and all relevant accreditation bodies. Undertake regular objective reviews of all processes ensuring continued development is achieved and compliance is maintained.
Assist with the welfare of all residents, maintaining an oversight of behaviours and providing a safe and secure residence. Communicating with all necessary external parties whilst observing sensitivity and confidentiality as required.
Create a non-judgmental, supportive environment for residents to engage and interact. Providing professional and compassionate support to assist as a first point of call for residents with welfare or mental health needs, signpost where required and provide ongoing support to residents. Liaising with University support services and all Emergency services on resident matters where required.
Ensuring the correct maintenance and upkeep of all u-student records whether electronic or hard copy covering all aspects of the business and operations on site. Ensuring health and safety compliance is always achieved and recorded correctly.
Provide strong leadership skills to lead the on site team to ensure excellent customer service at all times. Engaging and motivating the team and ensuring they have the support required to complete their jobs whilst managing the maintenance, housekeeping and supervision of u-student sites. Overseeing the training and development of the on site team and reporting to the operations manager.
To conduct welcome sessions, property visits, room inspections, inventory checks and departures, open day tours and so on. Responsible for all residents arrivals which may span several weeks either side of the annual main intake weekend.
Assist and mediate in resident disputes to ensure that good order and behaviour is maintained, promote tolerance and understanding and encourage positive dialogue between student residents.
Host u-student open days and site tours throughout the calendar positively and accurately promoting the accommodation, site and facilities, this presents a face-to-face opportunity to underline the core values of the business, promote the accommodation and the brand.
General reception duties including receipt and distribution of post, processing payments, dealing with customer and visitors queries and reports, telephone answering, car parking, bike storage, laundry, left lost property.
Any other duties that may from time to time be required to fulfil this role that are not specifically noted above.
NB. This role is subject to further review and requirements (not grade) may change in line with operational needs, in which case the role holder will be notified of the changes as part of the professional development planning process.

Hours:
37.5 hours per week
Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, 30 minutes unpaid break
You will be expected to work the hours required to fulfil the role, this will include unsociable hours at peak times such as arrivals and departures
Salary:
£30,000 per annum
Salary will be paid equally, monthly in arrears by bank transfer
Holidays :
28 days per year including statutory bank holidays, holidays are accrued throughout the year on a time worked basis, holidays will not be permitted when another member of the accommodation management team is on holiday, or during our busiest times of year exact restriction on dates to be confirmed
NB. We will require contact details for at least two referees from whom we will take references directly. Any candidate may be required to complete a personal profiling survey online. Successful candidate will be subject to eligibility to work in the UK checks and possibly a CRB or List99 check.
