Job description
This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, classified as EHRA Non-Teaching and reports to the Director of Student Athlete Academic Enhancement Program (SAAEP).
The successful candidate will assist with the day-to-day operations and support of the Center for Academic Excellence-SAAEP and will coordinate academic support for student athletes on assigned teams.
The individual in this position will be responsible for design and implementation of academic support plans for student-athletes and will monitor their academic progress.
The selected candidate is expected to foster understanding, appreciation, respect and values that embrace diversity and inclusion on campus in the broader community
- Master’s degree from accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience working with students providing academic support, with preference for those who have experience in athletics at the Division I level
- Knowledge of NCAA Bylaw 14; Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with individuals from various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds
- Ability to work independently and multi-task
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and handle confidential information with discretion and according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines; Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience (generally 2+ years) in academic advising, student career counseling, or providing student support within a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with and supporting a diverse student population including students who have historically been underrepresented/under served in higher education.
- Demonstrated skill in effective oral and written communication; organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to work independently while also working in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues inside and outside of the Student Athlete Academic Enhancement Program.
