Job summary
Sometimes things go wrong. At the CCRC we help to put them right.
We are the independent public body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice. It is down to us to tackle complex issues across a broad range of criminal cases. We have dealt with some of the most serious miscarriages of justice of the last 50 years.
This is your opportunity to play a part in this essential, often life-changing work.
At the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), we work in the interests of justice, and we are wholly independent. We do not represent the police, prosecution, court, or government. We do not represent the person applying for a review of their case. Staying independent helps us investigate alleged miscarriages of justice objectively and impartially.
We have unique statutory powers that allow us to obtain any material in the possession or control of a public body, including sensitive material like medical or intelligence records. Not only that, but we are empowered to form a complete picture of a case from start to finish, and we are the only people who can send a case back to court for a second or subsequent appeal.

The CCRC is committed to equality and to being an inclusive organisation.
Inclusive and diverse teams are important to us. We welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including groups underrepresented in our workforce. We are committed to providing reasonable adjustments throughout the selection process and beyond.
Job description
Are you passionate about digital communications and the correction of miscarriages of justice? Join our expanding team at the CCRC.
We are seeking a talented, energetic individual to drive our digital communications to new heights.
The successful applicant will have primary control over the CCRC’s website (www.ccrc.gov.uk) and our existing Twitter and LinkedIn social media platforms, and will be responsible for identifying and implementing CCRC presence on other platforms as necessary.
The CCRC has recently approved a new strategy for external engagement aimed at increasing knowledge of the organisation, which has referred more than 800 potential miscarriages of justice back to the courts since its creation 26 years ago.
Despite being a government-funded body, the CCRC is totally independent and maintains a separate website away from www.gov.uk.
Our website’s security architecture is maintained externally, and this role will focus on delivering engaging content and improving the user journey for our varied audiences (which include potential applicants, the legal community and the media).
You will work with the Head of News to implement an exciting digital communications strategy that keeps people abreast of our work. One project you will support will be supporting the CCRC Historian in uploading his archive of 800+ cases we have referred back to the courts.
At the CCRC, we value diversity and inclusivity. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds who bring fresh perspectives and thrive on constructive challenges. If you're ready to launch your career and make a real impact, seize this opportunity and apply today.
