Job description
Freejam (https://freejamgames.com/), developers of the online multiplayer game Robocraft (http://robocraftgame.com), is now looking for a Senior 3D Artist to join our growing team to build the long-awaited sequel Robocraft 2 (https://www.robocraft2.com/). Robocraft 2 is developed using cutting-edge technologies, including Unity DOTS and Havok Physics. This is a full-time, permanent, in-studio role based in Portsmouth, UK. We can sponsor visas if required.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of all aspects of the art content and style within the product. You would work closely with the Game Director and other artists already on the team to understand the existing art style and workflows and develop high-quality content assets for the game.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Game Director and existing artists to understand the art style and existing workflows
- Develop a wide range of in-game 3D assets including environment landscape elements, props, and mechanical hard surface components
- Help to ensure a consistent art style is maintained across the product
- Help to mentor more junior artists in the team
- Solve technical problems relating to art content in-game
- Ensure assets are created in a way that is optimised for real-time gameplay on the platforms that it is targetting
- Learn existing art pipelines, refine them, and maintain them
- Utilize all latest games graphics techniques and technologies where appropriate to improve the quality and productivity of the game and its development
- Work with external freelance and contract artists that support the internal core teams production
Requirements
- 3+years games industry experience as an artist
- Proven ability in hard-surface modelling, texturing, high-to-low poly baking
- Proven ability to create high-quality bespoke PBR materials and texture using software like Substance
- Experience with environment art, landscape, foliage, and prop asset creation
- Experience with Unity HDRP lighting, atmospherics, post-processes, surface materials
- Some experience with character modelling, rigging, skinning is a bonus
- Some experience with animating of props or even characters is a bonus
- The software we use are Maya, Photoshop, Substance, Illustrator, XD, Speedtree, ZBrush - any other tools that can help you produce higher quality art or be more productive are always welcome

- Pro-active and able to prioritize tasks and manage your time effectively
- You must be friendly, have no ego, be open to other opinions, and also confident in your own ability and skills. How you integrate as a person within the team will be critical to your success within the role.
