Job description

We are recruiting an experienced 3.5 Tonne Driver to deliver and collect products to and from our customers and suppliers in an efficient, safe and timely manner.

As the face of the company you will be expected to be polite and courteous and act with complete professionalism at all times. Working hours are Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, between 6am - 3pm each day.

Duties include:

  • Update and maintain all transport documentation and paperwork as appropriate
  • Carry out other duties within yard/warehouse as and when required
  • Adhere to safe working practices and ensure safety of yourself, and others, at all times
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations regarding vehicle and loading area maintenance and load equipment safely.
  • Keep up to date with safety requirements including the use of relevant PPE
  • Familiarise self and comply with all legal requirements such as Transport rules, the Road Traffic Act, Highway Code, speed limits and DVSA legislation (related to use of a tachographs, drivers hours regulations and driver CPC requirements),
  • Attend any essential training as directed, to carry out the driver’s role safely and effectively
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested within the individual’s capabilities
  • Accurate and timely movement and delivery/collection of our customers and suppliers’ products
  • Loading and unloading products
  • All relevant goods are loaded and organised to maximise efficiency at delivery sites. Ensure the vehicle is loaded safely within legal operating limits
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and that use of any point of delivery/collection technology i.e. Handheld technology is used with attention to detail
  • Complete a daily vehicle check, ensuring the vehicle is in a roadworthy condition and legally compliant. Report any defects or repairs required immediately
  • Ensure vehicle is serviced, maintained and clean and ensure company and legal regulations are followed and adhered to at all times

Competencies & Experience:

  • Hold a current full UK Drivers licence
  • Somebody who thrives within fast paced distribution environments
  • Have good data accuracy
  • Have basic numeracy and IT skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety requirements
  • Enjoys working in a customer facing role
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Experience of customer facing multi-drop van delivery operations within a hands on environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £25,500.00 per year
