The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for doctors with core level training equivalence to develop their interests and aspirations before moving on in their training career. We would require you to work on-call flexibly across theatres, labour ward and our intensive therapy unit while we support you in developing your skillset in a skill set of your interest.
This may include:
Teaching: You will be encouraged to become involved with our local departmental teaching. This involves developing and implementing simulator-based teaching for anaesthetic and ICM trainees in our 3G simulation suite supported by teaching mannikins and a comprehensive library of resources.
Obstetrics: You would be involved/lead and be supported on QI projects within obstetric anaesthesia our PROMPT course and participate in multi-disciplinary clinical risk meetings.
Peri-Operative Medicine: You can become involved in our expanding peri-operative medicine service. This involves time in our Pre-Assessment Clinic, Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing clinic and pre-habilitation sessions. You will be encouraged to be involved in local teaching and facilitate QI projects in this evolving area.
ITU: Working with our multi-disciplinary team of primarily doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and physiotherapists will allow you to develop various interests within critical care. These include our evolving outreach service, organ donation, focused echocardiography, research, education and wellbeing. The permanent members of staff have a range of expertise and many years of experience in the above areas, along with commitments within the school of anaesthesia, Royal College of Anaesthetists, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine and Cardiff University. This will allow the successful candidate to make the most out of this post about their professional development.

There are many outstanding beauty areas nearby; the north is the Brecon Beacons National Park, and to the south is the rolling countryside of Vale of Glamorgan and the South Wales Heritage Coast.
There are established air, rail, and sea link side easy access for travel throughout the UK and beyond
