We are looking for a graduate business analyst to shape and explore strategic opportunities and solutions for capability investment. Capability is defined as the people, processes and systems required to support our diverse organisation. You will ideally have an educational background that has covered business development and strategy and you will also have an aptitude for, and interest in, information technology. You will need an excellent analytical ability and excellent skills in written communication and engagement (summarising analysis into papers and making presentations are a key part of this role). Please note that this is a strategic business analysis role that will provide exposure to many different functions within the business. While IT knowledge is beneficial, and there will be some exposure to IT systems, this role does not sit within the IT department and should be considered a broader business role.

The Graduate Business Analyst will work as part of a small group of analysts to shape and explore strategic opportunities and solutions for capability investment. These solutions may be IT solutions, or may relate to proposed changes within business functions.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out analysis to define or clarify a business problem or opportunity that has arisen to aid business understanding
  • Create project briefs to outline the approach that will be taken to a piece of analysis.
  • Following the agreed brief, carry out the required business analysis and recommend options for the way forward. The analysis may involve competitor research, reading of material online, or interviewing internal and external stakeholders, and is likely to be output into a written report or presentation.
  • Conduct data analysis as and when required in order to answer a business question or to provide the business with information to support decision-making.
  • Work with stakeholders to elicit high-level requirements for new tools or systems, and capture business needs. Compare the "as-is" and "to-be" positions and define user and functional requirements as needed.
  • Carry out risk assessments relating to new or existing tools or systems.
  • Contribute to the development of business cases for project work that may arise from the analysis.
  • Assist with project administration tasks as and when required.
Important: Please note, this role requires an immediate start, the successful candidate must have already graduated and able to start immediately.

To apply for this scheme, you will have less than 12 months experience and have a degree or are expected to achieve one of the following degree disciplines:
  • Business related subject
  • IT related subject
Please note, you must have already graduated to be considered for this role as it will require an immediate start.

In your application you should be able to demonstrate your interest through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules, or previous work experience.

We are looking for graduates with the following characteristics:
  • An understanding of business strategy and practices through previous study
  • A holistic and methodical approach to problem solving
  • An understanding of business processes.
  • Experience in analysing data (as part of previous studies)
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Good IT skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail
  • Experience of producing written reports in previous studies
