Graduate Civil Structural Engineer
We currently have an opportunity for a Graduate Civil Structural Engineer to join our office based in Stockton.
You will work as part of multidiscipline team on a project, contributing to ensuring the quality and timely delivery of Civil & Structural deliverables.
Projects in the Stockton site are predominately within the Mining, Minerals and Battery Metals sector, and as a centre of excellence, the projects which operate out of the office are at the forefront of Engineering.
Here at Worley, our vision plays a major role in projects we take on. You may find yourself providing detailed design for the largest mining project in the UK to provide farmers with high quality fertilizer for increasing crop yield, front end engineering design for battery recycling giga factories in Sweden or conceptual studies for the first lignin to anode material factory in Finland.
As you can expect, we need the experts of the future. You can expect to be placed on a project early on in your career and allowed to develop through relevant project-based work and complete training towards professional institute membership, but you will be supported by an assigned mentor, Worley’s knowledge and training systems and working alongside industry experts.
As a Graduate Civil Structural Engineer you will get the opportunity to:
- Prepare conceptual/detailed design calculations and structural analysis of concrete and steel structures following procedures in relevant standards under supervision of an experienced engineer
- Produce engineering deliverables, design criteria and scope of work documents across Studies, Basic, FEED, detailed design and EPC phases of work.
- Supervise design drawing production and other project related design deliverables and resolving technical queries within your area of responsibility
- Safety is at the heart of what we do at Worley, you will be expected to follow CDM and any site-specific regulations and support Worley’s commitment to health, safety, and the environment.
- Work collaboratively internally and externally in a multidiscipline environment by adopting an integrative workflow and embracing digital engineering.
- Take lead in innovating and employing new digital solutions
Technical Specifications
- You will be in your final year of study of an accredited degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) or have graduated within the past 2 years
- You will be looking to achieve registration as a Chartered Engineer with the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) equivalent in the coming 5 years following your graduation
- A good understanding of structural theory, and an interest in solving problems from first principles
- Understanding of substructures (ground bearing and piled) and structural frame analysis
- Design of structures to Eurocodes and ensuring compliance to relevant codes and standards
