The Macclesfield Campus is an essential part of AstraZeneca’s UK Operation and the 2nd largest operational site within the company’s global network. It is approx. 100 acres with around 4500 people working on site. The site is unique in the AstraZeneca network having Operations, R&D, G&A, IT and others on its site.

About the Opportunity:
The successful role holder will either work in Chemical Development, Oral Product Development or New Modalities and Parenterals Development as part of the Process Engineering group, responsible for application of new technologies and safe manufacturing scale up, leading to right first-time campaigns.
Within Oral product development the successful candidate will assist with the development of any small molecule tablet or capsule based drug products.
New modalities and parenteral development is responsible for the development of large molecule drug products, including injectables. These two departments are responsible for the design and delivery of the drug product for the patient and optimising the manufacturing process for it.
Chemical development are for responsible for the design and delivery of the chemical manufacturing processes and delivery of chemical manufacturing
The yearlong Industrial student placement will offer a mixture of drug development project work, this can include scale up calculations for mixing, filtration experiments, tablet manufacture, pilot plant accommodation work as an example. Alongside this, the student is usually offered the opportunity to lead a science and technology project with support from an experienced engineer.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
Required:
Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree with the opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2024.
Degree subject within a Chemical, Biochemical, or process engineering discipline.
Competent in the use of modelling packages such as MATLAB and Aspen.
Strong planning and organisation skills.
Ability to see opportunities, learn, and apply that learning to drive innovation with good collaboration and teamworking skills.
Confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.
