Partnering with the NHS, we plc are looking for candidates with the right aptitude and attitude to train to become dedicated Health Advisors to join our NHS 111 teams in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Teesside, Stoke on Trent and Stafford.
We have full and part time roles available with shift patterns covering 20 hours to 37.5 hours per week.
NHS 111 is available to patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, our teams help patients to get the right advice and treatment when they need it. Using specialised support systems, you will undertake health assessments to signpost patients to the most appropriate service to meet their needs.
All successful applicants undertake a, fully paid 4- 6-week training course. Training courses are all full-time hours (37.5 hours per week). The initial 3 weeks are classroom based, following which, you will be working within the Contact Centre alongside a dedicated, accredited coach to provide you with the skills you need to excel at the role. Once you are working independently you will be allocated your rotas according to your contracted hours.
What you can expect to do:
- Assess patients 24/7 and refer to appropriate services, this could include;
- Referrals to an Emergency Department or an Urgent Treatment Centre
- Requesting an ambulance for those patients who have life threatening symptoms
- Managing calls from patients with Mental Health concerns
- Making an appointment with GP and dental services
- Signposting patients to pharmacies or other local services
- Arranging self-care and home management advice
What we’re looking for:
You do not need to have previous experience within healthcare. What we look for are the qualities that ensure our staff are excellent communicators, able to remain calm under pressure and deliver great service with care and compassion.
- 3 GCSE grade C or above (including English) or equivalent relevant work-based experience
- Fluent spoken English language
- Experienced and competent in using IT software and packages
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A professional, caring empathetic attitude
- Calm under pressure and able to manage challenging situations sensitively
- Minimum age is 18.

Working Hours and Shift Times

Shift lengths do not exceed 10.5hrs, including weekend work
35 or 37.5 hours per week
Rostered between 13:30-00:00
4 or 5 shifts per week. Various rotations, including weekend work.
25hrs or 30hrs per week
Rostered between 14:00-23:00
30hr contract is 4 shifts per week, 25hr contract is 3 shifts. Various rotations, including weekend work.
20hrs per week
Rostered between 17:00-00:00 on Weekdays and between 06:00-22:00 on weekends.
2 or 3 shifts per week. Various rotations, including weekend work.
20hrs per week
Rostered between 06:00-22:00.
2 or 3 shifts per week. Various rotations, including weekend work.
20hrs per week
Rostered between 06:00-22:00 every weekend and every Monday.
2 or 3 shifts per week. Working every Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
16hrs per week
Rostered between 06:00-22:00 every Saturday and Sunday.
The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
