This role will specifically support the delivery of our weekday youth sessions which run Monday to Friday, 4 - 8pm. The sessions are mainly accessed by young people aged 8 to 18 years and living in Ashington and the surrounding area. ● Successfully planning and delivering a range of centre-based youth sessions in and around Ashington, working flexibly across a varied programme of delivery.
● Assisting in the creation of a safe and welcoming atmosphere where children and young people can thrive.
● Liaising participants, parents/carers, and a range of agencies to identify young people in need of YMCA Northumberland’s services, and to help meet their needs and aspirations.
● Maintaining appropriate work records and detailed chronologies to the required service standards, observing data protection, privacy and confidentiality rules and procedures.
● Contributing towards the achievement of the organisation's objectives, targets and strategies for youth work delivery.
● Contributing to regular reports on progress against targets.
● Contributing towards promoting the work of YMCA Northumberland and encouraging children and young people to join.
● Ensuring that risk assessments are appropriate for the activities delivered, and are kept up to date.
● Assisting in ensuring the accessibility of all sessions and activities.
● Ensuring that the appropriate equipment and resources are available for sessions, and are properly maintained.
● Actively supporting the development of working relationships with schools, colleges and other youth organisations, in order to support the delivery of high quality, joined-up services.
● Participating in regular staff meetings on-site, and to attend external meetings, training and events on behalf of the organisation, with prior agreement from your line manager.
● Occasionally working alternative hours/weekends to participate in training, fundraising events or residential trips involving young people.
● Maintaining the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality.
● Operating within the guidelines of YMCA Northumberland’s Staff Handbook.
