Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a motivated, caring and person-centred individual who shares our values to join Jani Homes as a Relief Youth Support Worker. At its core, the role involves making sure young people feel safe. It also involves supporting young people with the objective of developing the emotional, social and practical skills needed for moving on into independent living.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to develop meaningful relationships and offer consistent stability to the young people residing at Jani Homes. In turn, there are safeguarding procedures and guidelines that all members of the team are expected to follow. The right candidate has the potential to make a huge difference to the lives of young people at Jani Homes and also, develop a rewarding career.
Who we are
Jani Homes has been proudly supporting young people for 12 years. During this time, we have laid substantial groundwork enriching the lives of young people in Nottingham and further afield. We have numerous success stories that demonstrate what nurturing and supported accommodation can achieve for young people. We provide a first rate service for care leavers, asylum seekers and homeless young people. Our aim is to deliver outstanding services to ensure young people develop the skills and have the support needed to move on successfully into independent living.
Daily Responsibilities
- Supporting and enabling young people to develop the life skills needed to live independently such as cleaning, cooking, money management etc.
- Maintaining accurate records of work undertaken
- Reporting young peoples progress using tools including the Outcome Star
- Carrying out needs and risk assessments
- Adhering to Jani Homes safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
- Working a range of shifts based on your availability, including days, evenings and overnight shifts

This role is offered on a zero hours basis meaning that shifts are offered on an ad-hoc basis. A shift rota is issued each month so you will usually be offered shifts a month in advance, between 9am - 9am.
Shifts are not guaranteed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential
- A heart for supporting young people to grow and achieve positive outcomes
Desirable
- Minimum of 1 years relevant support work/housing/youth work/residential/social work, probation/criminal justice or community work experience
- Level 3 Children & Young Peoples' Workforce, Health & Social Care or other relevant/equivalent qualification
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car with business insurance is desirable
