Job description
LCCM is the highest ranked specialist provider of music performance and music business degrees in the UK by student satisfaction (NSS 2019, 2020, 2021). Our Central London location means we’re closer to the industry than any other creative campus. Our students absolutely love The Music Box, our custom built six storey artistic hub featuring three recording studios and a 120 cap fully licensed venue as well as classrooms, performance and practice rooms, three Mac labs, piano rooms and soundproofed edit suites.
Part of the GUS Group, which is an international network of higher-education institutions, brought together by a shared passion for accessible, industry-relevant qualifications.
GUS delivers a wide variety of programmes, including bachelor's degree programmes, master's degree programmes, professional training, English Language training, and corporate & executive education. When someone chooses to study at one of our institutions– whether on campus in Europe, North America or even in their own home – they're joining a network of 75,000 students worldwide.
We are based in some of the world’s biggest cities, with campuses in London, Birmingham and Manchester, across the Atlantic in Toronto, Chicago and Vancouver; and across the globe in Singapore, Germany and Israel.
Position:
Youth Music Officer
Permanent, Full-time
Holborn, London
Up to £25,000 (dependent on experience)
Requirements:
Are you a recent graduate in either Jazz or Contemporary Music with the ability to teach and inspire others? We are looking for a charismatic musician and workshop leader to continue building and deliver our youth music programme.
We already have a reputation for attracting, nurturing and producing switched on, industry ready talent. Our graduates are musicians, songwriters and producers working with the likes of George Ezra, Dua Lipa & Jordan Rakei; artists in their own right like Tom Walker, Rhys Lewis and composer Nicholas Morris Rarity or rising executives at leading music companies like Warner Chappell, Universal Music and Live Nation.
LCCM is committed to widening access and participation in music education and attracting top talent to study with us whatever their background. In order to nurture this talent pipeline we have been running a schools engagement programme building partnerships with local music hubs and key schools and colleges in London, the South East and across the UK. We run workshops, scholarships, short courses like ‘All About the Band’ and one-off events like ‘Youth Jam’ to give more pupils the chance to experience recording in a professional studio or performing at a proper music venue.
Due to a change in the team we are seeking a new Youth Music Officer to take over the schools strategy, partnerships and delivery of the workshops, school visits and events. The Youth Music Officer will be responsible for continuing partnerships and building further relationships with key schools and music education partners to help develop the talent pipeline for music. The ideal candidate will be musically literate with the ability to inspire vocalists and musicians in all contemporary styles. You will also need to be a confident communicator, building rapport and partnerships with teachers, heads of music & performing arts, music hubs and local councils.
We envisage this to be a full time role. Though based at the Music Box in London, the role will involve significant travel to schools and colleges across the UK with the possibility of international travel to deliver workshops and courses. The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
