Could you help facilitate our youth project which provides support to asylum seeking and refugee young people aged 15-21?
We have a great opportunity for a Project Assistant to join our Refugee Support and Restoring Family Links (RSRFL) team.
A day in the life of a Young Refugee Project Assistant will involve:
The Project Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of our Refugee and Befriending project for unaccompanied young refugees and asylum seekers aged 15-21 in Croydon. You will be responsible for undertaking a range of duties designed to develop, maintain, and promote the service.
The project offers a safe space for vulnerable asylum seekers and young refugees to develop their life skills, increase their social networks, reduce isolation and improve their English language. As Project Assistant, you will support the Project Coordinator in organising and facilitating a mixture of youth work activities and life skill provisions. This will include drama, music, arts, sports and life skills workshops.
To be a successful Young Refugee Project Assistant You’ll need:
- You understand issues relating to young refugees and asylum seekers and have experience of working with young people with complex needs
- You can deliver learning and development activities, including delivering training
- You can work as part of a team in a high-pressure environment
- You have excellent communication skills and can listen, empathise, and provide emotional support
